THE STORY OF GUENTHER MECHANICAL

A DREAM BEGINS

Few could have dreamed that when a 30-year old German immigrant arrived at Ellis Island, New York in 1951, he would establish, only 10 years later, what is today one of the most successful mechanical contracting firms in northern Ohio. Yet that is the story of Oskar Guenther, founder of Guenther Mechanical, Inc.

BUILDING A DREAM

Oskar and his family were, initially, "church-sponsored" by a family from Ashland, Ohio. The early years found him and his wife, Hilde, working at a number of jobs to make ends meet while all the time saving money and harboring the dream of owning their own business. In 1961, Oskar left his job with a local contractor to start Guenther Plumbing & Heating Company. He rented a tiny space in the corner of a building owned by a local construction company at 1248 Middle Rowsburg Road in Ashland. After many modifications and expansions, the once-little building at 1248 Middle Rowsburg Road became the current home of Guenther Mechanical, Inc. Through his tireless efforts, where Oskar would work in the field by day, and pore over blueprints in the evenings and weekends, the company began its growth.

A DREAM IS REALIZED

Today, the growth that began with a handful of residential plumbing projects has blossomed into a multi-million dollar a year, fully-integrated mechanical construction company. After more than sixty years in the mechanical trades performing HVAC, sheet metal and construction, Guenther Mechanical Inc. has established a reputation as a leader in our industry.
